About Miller’s Right

A world-class, right-hand point/reef break in Tarimbang Bay on the southern coast of Sumba, Indonesia. Located roughly 2-3 hours from Waingapu, this fast, hollow, and consistent wave is ideal for intermediate to advanced surfers.

Getting to Miller's Right

Miller’s Right is located deep within Sumba’s southwest coast. In order to get to this surf break, you must first fly into Tambolaka Airport and either rent a car or hire a driver. The journey from the airport to the  surf break usually takes several hours (journey will be shorter for those staying at a nearby hotel).

What to Pack

Miller’s Right is under the radar and quite underappreciated. Whereas this gives the surf break a unique serenity, the poor surfing infrastructure is an unignorable reality. Don’t forget to pack your bag well and include:

  1. Enough water for a day trip (ideally 3 to 4 liters per person)
  2. Backup boards (if possible), since the nearby surf infrastructure might be limited
  3. Snacks and food
  4. Emergency medical kit
  5. Powerbank (at least 2 or 3)

An Experienced Guide/Surfer Is a Must

Do not go to ride Miller’s Right alone. It is quite isolated and relatively challenging. Get a guide who is also a surf trainer for the best experience.
