Mangkudu Left
Located off Mangkudu Island at the southern tip of Sumba. This is a deep-water wave that very consistently captures raw, open-ocean energy coming out of the Indian Ocean, offering a massive playing field with multiple takeoff zones.
How to Get to Mangkudu Left
The most common route is to drive from Tambolaka to the nearest harbor town on the southwest coast, and then charter a local speedboat for a 30 to 45-minute ocean crossing to Mangkudu Island.
Since Mangkudu Island itself is entirely uninhabited, there are no structures on the island. Surfers stay at specialized surf resorts on the main island of Sumba that run daily boat transfers to the reef, or they visit via luxury liveaboard surf charters that anchor directly in the island’s lee
