Rumah Budaya Sumba
Rumah Budaya Sumba, situated in Tambolaka City just 10 minutes from Tambolaka Airport, stands as the most comprehensive museum on Sumba Island and is open to the public. Upon entry, visitors are required to register in the guestbook and make a donation. The museum features an expansive layout with three main buildings designed in traditional Sumbanese architectural styles. Each building houses a rich collection of historical artifacts and cultural relics from Sumba.
The museum was established by Father Robert, a dedicated missionary with a profound commitment to preserving Sumbanese culture. His initiative aimed to fill the cultural void on the island, ensuring that Sumbanese children and adults alike could connect with their heritage. Father Robert’s vision has played a crucial role in cultural preservation and education, allowing the local community to better appreciate and understand their rich historical legacy.
