Home Sumba Places Agriculture Honakonni Papaya Farm

Located in Honakonni Village, the papaya farm managed by Koo Dingu stands out in West Sumba for its size and productivity. While most local farmers typically grow only a few papaya trees, Koo Dingu has cultivated a large and thriving farm beside her home. The trees, now tall and bearing fruit, are a rare sight in the region. Her harvest is primarily sold at the local traditional market, offering fresh, homegrown papayas to the community.

Using traditional farming techniques, Koo Dingu maintains her farm without the use of modern technology, including mobile phones. As a result, orders cannot be placed remotely, and customers must visit the farm in person to purchase her produce. This hands-on approach preserves the authenticity of her farming practices and fosters a direct connection between the farmer and her customers.
