About Weekuri Lagoon

Weekuri (or Waikuri) lagoon is a serene saltwater lagoon with crystal-clear calm waters and sky reflections. It is an ideal spot for swimming, diving, and other water sports activities. Often frequented by locals, especially kids, this natural wonder is one of Sumba’s most popular attractions.

Weekuri is about 150 meters in length and 50 meters in width. You can see various bird species, particularly brown booby, common kingfisher and Malaysian plover, as well as hawksbill sea turtle.

How to Get to Weekuri Lagoon

The closest town to Weekuri Lagoon is Tambolaka and Waikabubak; the drive from these towns usually takes 1 to 2 hours. Renting a car or motorbike is the most convenient way to travel, as public transport does not take you to the lagoon.
