Tosi Village

Tosi Village, located in Wura Homba, is another historical village in Kodi. It is known for its traditional Sumbanese way of life, characterized by unique architectural styles, ancestral rituals, and a deep connection to local customs and traditions. The houses in Tosi Village are distinguished by their high-pitched thatched roofs made of alang-alang grass, supported by wooden pillars, and adorned with intricate carvings symbolizing various aspects of Sumbanese culture. One of the most significant rituals in Tosi Village is the Pasola festival, a traditional war game played by men on horseback. The Pasola is held annually to coincide with the planting season and is believed to ensure a bountiful harvest. Participants throw wooden spears at each other while riding horses, showcasing their bravery and skill. The villagers hold deep reverence for their ancestors, believing that their spirits continue to influence the living. Ancestral ceremonies, such as the marapu ritual, are conducted to honor the spirits and seek their blessings. These rituals often involve offerings, chants, and animal sacrifices, reflecting the profound spiritual connection the villagers maintain with their forebears.
