Mehengmata Village
Mehengmata Village, located in Lete Kodo and just a few blocks away from Bondo Kodi Village, is another captivating destination worth visiting. Featuring 12 traditional Sumba houses, the village is notably spacious, particularly at its center. A vehicle-accessible path leads directly to the heart of the village, facilitating easy access. The houses retain their traditional Sumba architectural style, and upon arrival, visitors are greeted by large graves that resemble an entryway to a cemetery. As one of the oldest villages in the region, Mehengmata does not have a designated sacred area, allowing for greater freedom of movement within the village. Visitors are asked to sign the guestbook and make a voluntary donation before taking photographs. This practice ensures a respectful and culturally sensitive experience while exploring the village.
