Malisu Village

Malisu Village, perched on a steep hilltop, provides panoramic views of the sea. It holds historical significance as the birthplace of Benaka Hurka, a distinguished local hero who led a resistance movement against Dutch colonial forces in 1911. Located in the West Lamboya District, the village is situated 40 kilometers from Waikabubak. Access is via a small path from the main road near the Pasola field, followed by a challenging ascent on a damaged hillside road, navigable only by motorcycle or specialized vehicles. Despite the rugged terrain, visitors are rewarded with breathtaking vistas. The village, home to over 40 families, maintains its traditional architectural style and is surrounded by lush greenery. A prominent sacred tree, central to local beliefs, is preserved with reverence to avoid any misfortune. Additionally, there is a restricted sacred area within the village, reflecting its profound cultural and spiritual significance.
