Lakoka Church
The oldest church in the area, Lakoka Church, is situated in Mbilur Pangadu and dates back to the Dutch colonial era on Sumba Island. Its historical roots are evident in its distinct architectural design, which sets it apart from other buildings in the region. The church embodies classic Dutch architectural features, with rough, unpolished walls that expose the stone beneath, covered in a layer of white paint that creates a unique, textured appearance. A small, round window at the front adds to its historical allure, while the surrounding grounds are expansive, contrasting with the church’s modest size. The structure is narrow and elongated, and its front wall is adorned with a simple cross, emphasizing its understated charm. Despite its small size and age, the church remains well-maintained, preserving its historical significance and character.
