West Sumba is hosting the provincial celebrations for the Indonesian Kindergarten Teachers Association (IGTKI) anniversary from May 18 to 20, 2026. The events are ahead of the official May 22 anniversary date to accommodate ferry transport schedules for teachers traveling from mainland Flores.
The opening day started off with a community walk through Waikabubak City and a group gymnastics session joined by local regional leaders. The second day will focus on administrative and professional growth.
To celebrate local heritage, the three-day event includes performances by students and teachers, traditional Sumba welcoming dances, and an organized excursion to the Praijing Traditional Village.
