After 20 years of rural community development, Sumba Integrated Development (SID) and ChildFund International in Indonesia officially concluded their assistance program across seven villages in Nggaha Ori Angu, East Sumba.

Over the course of two decades, the initiative expanded beyond child protection and education to improving family health, local economics, environmental initiatives, and village governance.

Program alumni have successfully transitioned into independent adults, securing careers as civil servants, teachers, military personnel, and entrepreneurs.

Local schools have permanently integrated the program’s life skills and financial literacy curriculum, aligning with the national Merdeka Belajar framework. While local governments face budget constraints, officials pledge to replicate these community-based child-protection models in other regions to maintain the momentum.
